Monday a mushroom hunter found a set of human remains in Cass County, Mo. Tuesday, law enforcement found a second set of remains in the same area. We in the media immediately thought of two missing women, Kara Kopetsky (missing since May 4, 2007) and Jessica Runions (missing since September 8, 2016). Many searches for Kopetsky's body took place just south of that area over the years.

Tonight the medical examiner confirmed one of the remains is Runions.

One man is awaiting trial for burning Runions' SUV. He also dated Kopetsky before she disappeared.

I remember, in 2007, we had been reporting on an abduction of a teenager named Kelsey Smith. Kopetsky was initially classified as a runaway, and it was the Smith abduction that prompted Belton, Mo., police to examine the Kopetsky disappearance more closely. I honestly thought we would never see a resolution in my time here. But now that looks possible.

This is such good news. I'm glad that Jessica's body was found and I hope the other one is Kara. These poor families need closure. I also hope that evidence is found pointing to the kylr, I mean, killer.
