One question Cliffie, have you ever made a report to DCFS? Or CPS?
I have, many, many times....hence my cynicism towards the system, and the workers.
I'm a social worker. A mandated reporter. I have been making reports for 20+ years. I am not a slavering fan of the system, either, but it is not the evil empire you are making it out to be.
Hopefully they get what they deserve, I have doubts it'll be the universe.
Let's hope the inmates take care of her. As twisted as that sounds, sometimes people need a good dose of their own medicine. I have little sympathy for someone this depraved. I'm sure she has her own issues, but who cares?

Issues don't even begin to cover it, what the hell does the dead chicken symbolize ?
The problem I have with the system is that it rarely takes into account the actually pain and suffering that one of these monsters inflicts on a kid. It would not surprise me if they don't get more time for animal abuse than abusing their kids. I just wish our system did a better job dishing out stiff punishments. But I might be wrong in this case? Perhaps they will throw the book at them?

My feeling is the justice system will do the right thing. The kids were all most likely in the system at one time.
By appearences, these two were stable with good jobs. Behind closed doors lived in squaller in a remote rural area, the kids didn't attend school, home schooling, that's bs, and probably had little or no contacts outside the home. Which leads to the question of why they took in 5 kids...... For abuse and santeria rituals??

The problem is that we do not have enough information. If they were foster parents first and then adopted the kids; were they monitored by the system? If she was a former social services supervisor; possibly she used her position to slip through the cracks? Once they adopted the kids and went into home schooling there was no check and balance system. This could be a major problem with home schooling - if nobody ever sees the kids? Do the kids, in a home schooling setting, ever have to be accredited by our traditional educational system - do they ever make contact with the traditional system? Have we heard of other cases of abuse because the kids were home schooled?
There are many dedicated parents that only want the best for their kids. But not all parents are created equal. At least, with foster care, we had case workers to check on us and the tools for kids to report any problems.
