Contradict the book? Huh? The book is classified as a "non-fiction novel," the noun being "novel." Reports contradicting the novel have been around forever.
There were plenty of concocted scenes in the book as well as outright lies. One of the biggest travesties was how Capote, having a "thing" for Perry Smith, did his best to portray that savage in a sympathetic light.
I would read these files with interest. A gaping hole in Capote's book was anything substantial about Dick Hickock. I would think you'd find more in the case file...
It was a novel based on a true incident to start with and like always the authors view. Not much different than others. Now we have another of same thing ;a opinon but likely not having interviewed the suspects. The trial itself is as close as you will get to the unvarnished truth as they say .Reading a book is like listening to only the defense or prosecution as its one opinion varnishing the evidence.

Well, I hope the case file includes interviews with the suspects!
[MOD CUT/off topic] Capote pioneered the "Creative Non-Fiction" genre.
