Her blood alcohol level was more than twice the limit. She had her four children in the car and killed two of them. She's 30 years old and has a 16-year-old son.
Even though this is Texas, I guess she's not a product of "affluenza." Perhaps she will actually face real jail time
Her BAC was 0.18 (more than twice the legal limit). The kids that she killed were pinned underneath the car. Jeez! And investigators believe that she was driving more than 3x the 30 mph speed limit.
I wonder why her kids didn't call the police on her or why they got in the car with her. At that age (10, 12, 14, and 16) they are competent enough to know about drunk driving, right?

There's a good chance they were so used to her driving them around like that that they never expected anything to happen. And it's a rare kid who is willing to sic the cops on mom, anyway.
I didn't blame the victims. I asked a question. At age 10 (and certainly by 14), I was paying attention to the way my parents were driving.
Does a 10-year-old, or even most 14-year-olds, have access to a phone? It's an unusual household these days that has a house phone that everyone uses. She might also be quite a mean drunk, not the kind you can nip the phone away from and call 911 on while you're on the road and actively in danger. If that's what you're picturing. And I don't think most children would have the presence of mind to do such a thing even if they had a clear opportunity.
