There was a murder in my town decades ago. Unheard of in my town, which is considered to be extremely safe!

John Smith murdered his second wife.

It was featured in a crime show on TV.

"The Girl in the Box", I think it was called.
..rainbow hair...

The Girl in the Box was his first wife.

Three Little Girls. The story of the 16th Street Church Bombing in Birmingham, Sept 15, 1963.

Second place goes to Eric Robert Rudolph, who bombed an abortion clinic in 1998, killing a police officer and a security guard.

"Bombingham" can be a rough place.

2 more.

#2......15 miles from the above.......different town..........a property line dispute between 2 Minnesota neighbors ended with the old neighbor shooting the guy, his wife, their 2 early teen kids and committing suicide

I worked , at one time, with the guy who got shot ( and his brother)

This was featured last week on an episode of.........." deadly neighbor next door "

#3.........In my small home town in the 60's...........a widow had to move off the farm she raised her kids on because after her husband died. the bank foreclosed. She moved to a house in a town of about 700.
Her kids were out of school except for 2 young ones about 6 and 7

One night she drove her car to the chained off driveway of the farm and parked it and shot her 2 kids and then herself. She left a note saying she could not adjust to leaving the farm and there would be no one to care for her kids if she just committed suicide. Very sad !

^^^^This. Mickey Shunik, A beautiful, young, vibrant college student, missing for months. It was a very disturbing couple of months, and a pretty amazing story of a community coming together to find her. Unfortunately, ultimately she had been murdered the same night she was taken. So sad.

There have been many kidnappings of young girls that have never been solved, and a few that have but didn't end well for the victim. If I cast a slightly wider net there are too many to mention because it's the Bay Area and shyt happens here.

I remember the episode of "Cold Case Files" about this crime.
