So just what is crime? Is an activity a crime because the government prohibits it? If that were the case than Harriett Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and Susan B. Anthony would all be criminals since some of the stuff they did at the time was banned by the government and thus considered "crimes" from a legal standpoint. George Washington and all the people who fought in the Revolutionary War were criminals according to the British. So just what is a crime?
Crime-n. "an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law." That's the technical definition of what a crime is. The issue of legality vs. morality is a different matter altogether and should be discussed in the Philosophy Forum.
