Raffaele Sollecito sued for wrongful imprisonment. The Italian court rejected his claim for compensation in 2017. Although he was acquitted, it was due to "insufficient evidence" which doesn't necessarily mean they are saying he's innocent. So he was not actually exonerated of the crime. The Italian statute that allows compensation for wrongfully convicted persons, specifically excludes any defendant who lies to the police - which Raffaele did, over and over again. Which also means Amanda Knox cannot receive compensation, either.
