I'm not sure how they can say that. This wasn't really a case without a body. Granted, there wasn't much left, but they had blood, bone, tissue and a fingernail they tied to the victim. To me, that's not a case "without a body".

I guess because there was no way at that time to conclusively prove that the bone chips, hair, and fingernail came from Helle's body. "Tying it to the victim" was all circumstantial. Nowadays DNA would prove it.

Yeah I guess that's what is was, but the article says the blood, tissue and hair was "matched" to the victim. That clearly wasn't true at the time because it wasn't possible in 1987.
Yet another case where a criminal gets a huge amount of his sentence reduced for "good behavior"
Notice that these "good time" laws still provide credit even when criminals rack up infractions. "good time" my ass, these are AUTOMATIC sentence reductions that take up to 2/3 of the sentence away.
Another notorious "good time" case is the Shanda Sharer torture/murder case. 2 of the scumbags who tortured that girl to death got over HALF their sentence reduced.

Well, back then it was "consistent with" that of the victim.
