Wow...a "normal life"? Locking your daughter up for misbehaving for 24 years? Raping her and fathering her children?

In a normal family, a child's father is not his or her grandfather.

And he says, "I tried to make their life in captivity as pleasant as possible." HA!

This story is so unbelievably freakish, my heart goes out to Elizabeth and her 6 living children who have suffered this sick ordeal. Unbelievable.

"Normal" implies that most other people do the same thing or something similar. So I wonder where he thinks his neighbors, friends, etc. have their daughters hidden?

Well on some level he probably had to convince himself it was normal so he could justify to himself what he was doing.

there are degrees of sociopaths. unfortunately, this is just an extreme but there are a lot of sociopaths in society just faking morals or ethics or not acting out simply out of self-preservation and consequences. clues in behavior don't even have to be this extreme. narcissism and lack of empathy is one, often celebrated. sound familiar?

the book 'people of the lie' showcases a lot of what we instinctively know but don't voice, the fact the most innocent or honest is usually the most rare. but those characteristics are superimposed erroneously onto people in general.

it's hard to know who is who.

That's what I think. I only read as far as the paragraph where he explained that Elizabeth was sniffing glue and refused to listen to him when he tried to stop her. She apparently had a very bad attitude. I read that and stopped.

The death penalty, which might not be available in Austria?, is the only appropriate sentence.
