Hello, I am a direct victim of Madoff and have been a target from people like him as well. Anyone else on this board in the same situation? This city would clearly be better and more livable without crimininals of his nature. trillions of dollars hustled and schemed. 65 billion from madoff alone.

Perhaps, but honestly who looks at their portfolio, sees a 500% return on investment and doesn't think that something is up?

I was just curious in how you hooked up with him? Was there anything now, looking back that was not on the up and up that you did not know them. He had some heavy hitters following him and investing in his fradulent schemes.

Word.

I ain't gonna' lie...I have no pity for those stories of families who gave ~$10 mil to these guys and lost it all.

Was that not enough to live off of for life without even moving it from a bank?

Bernie might not be a good guy, but it takes two to tango.

There are not many victims of Madoff.Just people who are victims of their own greed.

Sure. You had to have a MINIMUM of $2,000,000 to join Bernie's club and he let that be known upfront. There are many who borrowed from friends and family just to get there.

Who's fooling who here?

When I closed my business down in 2003 with $35,000 of debt in tow, a friend of mine somehow thought I was in the mood to invest $10,000 in his car lot.

While I did not bite on his investment "plan" that strung out me getting that money back with a small return over 50 months (not appealing to me), the Sysco rep I fired from by resaurant bit on that hook really quickly. He was into all these stupid MLMs like vitamins and that sort of junk. so no surprise there. Guess what? That sales rep was out $10,000 as the lot and my ex-friend was gone in a matter of months.

Greed's a...ah, you get the idea.

I'm an indirect victim- my university was heavily funded by people who lost everything with Madoff. The Shapiro family in particular are our biggest donors and lost it all.

As a result, the school grant money for students has had an unexpected dip and I received $10,000 less in scholarship money than I have in the past years. That's pretty significant for me because I was depending on the scholarship money and was under the impression that my merit aid wouldn't change through my years at college, but if the money's not there it's just not there.

Overall, my university is really suffering. Madoff isn't the only culprit, but he's a big factor.
