Not after Bush/Cheney.

She would probably have gotten a better reaction had she not behaved as if the laws don't apply to her and everything was one big party to her. I think that had more to do with the verdict than anti-americna sentiment

It seems like many of you have missed the point...IF she's guilty they had a duty to Amanda and Meredith to PROVE, without a doubt, her guilt. They didn't do this. I don't know if she did it or not...all I'm saying is she didn't get a fair trial.

The jurors were literally told by the judges what to think, what to do, how to sentence her. The jurors were not sequestered and were subjected to the same media flood the entire country of Italy was. "American wh*re murders young student in wave of drugs and wild sex!!!" HEADLINE after HEADLINE...if these media spins were not Anti-American I don't know what is...the state dept is looking into this as is one of the Senators from WA. No idea what they can/will do, but there is talk....sigh.

If they call that justice I am afraid to visit there. There is proof on tape they screwed up the forensics by leaving things in the apt for weeks, moving them around without gloves, deciding after handling them they were evidence. They dug their fingers in Meredith's wounds...again, documented on tape. NBC has seen the tapes and talked about some of this on Dateline on Friday.

Like I said, I don't know if she did it. I agree with the poster that said as a Mom she aches over this. I do as well. I have 3 kids, 21, 16 and 14. To think of any of my children in a foreign prison literally hurts. To think of those young people losing their youth.....it's sad. If they did it they deserve the punishment, if they didn't then it's absolutely unimaginable.

It has been said in the media here that Italy has a liberal appeals process and that it looks "hopeful". Guess we'll see. All I'm asking for is fairness...Everyone involved deserves that. Fairness and what's right and truthful without opinion...only fact...fact, not tampered with evidence. It doesn't matter how skilled the forensics team is..the best in Italy??? Seems like they would have taken more care in this...especially while being taped!

Guess we'll see....this isn't going to go away anytime soon, unfortunately.

Lol, of course corrupt mafioso judicial systems in Western Europe would not want to emulate the US.

Seriously? Even though half of the American voting block didn't vote for them? If that's how Europeans really feel then they are living in darker ages than previously imagined. Scary stuff over there.

Indeed. How dare we demand fair trials. The USA is so backwards.

We don't rule the world so we don't get to dictate to other nations how to conduct their court proceedings. Don't like the way another country runs their court then either don't go to that country or don't commit crimes in that country.
