I'm trying to plan a budget for our move to Arizona. Our credit isn't the greatest so I'm prepared for us to pay deposits on our utilities (electric, gas, water). I was curious if anyone here knew the general amounts the companies charge for these deposits?

Also, I was wondering which cable companies are available in Tucson. Time Warner, WOW, etc?

TIA!

The deposits seem to differ, depending on your credit. I have good credit, so I can't help you too much.

However, Southwest Gas asks for a $145.00 deposit, no matter what your credit is. However, if you have a previous utility that you had an account with for at least a year send a fax saying you made all your payments on time they will waive the deposit.

Also, don't forget all the hook-up fees. They range from about $15.00 - $45.00. I think the water hook-up fee is the cheapest and the gas and electric were at the higher end.

WELCOME and Good Luck, LisaD.

Depending on actual location within the Tucson area . . . Cox Communication or Comcast.

Sorry, not much help on the deposit question.

I want to say our electricity company charged us a $200 deposit, but if you're not late on any payments the first year then you will get it back.

Gas and water were around $100 each if I remember correctly.

Like said above, cable will most likely be comcast or cox based on where you live.

Where I live in Tucson it's mostly Qwest and Comcast for cable & internet and phone. Tucson Electric Power for gas/electricity. And wow those deposits for bad credit are crazy! And I thought the $45 hook up fee was bad! Good thing I don't have bad credit!

It has been almost 14 years since I had my utilities turn on in my place but then there was no deposits required, unless you had any of the utilities disconnected for non payment, at which time the deposit was calculated by the amount of use of that particular utility.
