I lived there the area has little to offer it is divided by I-19 one side has some planed communities the other is not so planned little manufactured homes on a few acres out in the dessert on mostly dirt and gravel roads. Shopping is Wal-Mart and few grocery stores. Most services you will need to go to Tucson. You will find that the trip to Tucson wears thin. I worked in Nogales for 16 years and commuted down I-19 everyday. The if I need something like medical care I went to Tucson. If I needed Insurance services, financial services, serious car repair, eye glasses, buy a decent dress, or hear English spoken I went to Tucson. Living in the desert is interesting keep your pets under protection the coyotes and hawks patrol the houses looking for Miss Kitty and slow moving dogs, oh ya the javalina like to fight with the local dogs also (big vet bills). Also one has to be careful there are drug runners and human smugglers also called coyotes in the area I had drug runners loading up their truck just down the road from me. Also watch out for flash floods they can be dangerous don't go into any moving water you would be surprised at what six inches of moving water can do to a car or small truck. It gets hot there and stays hot there from the end of April to the end of September/October. Get dash mats and solar shields for your car windows and use them or your car will be damaged. Don't have vinyl seats in your car or truck you'll know why the first time you slide across the seat in the summer and bare skin hits hot vinyl

Other than that the cost of living isn't to bad unless your commuting like I was 90 miles a day $$. The desert can be beautiful and cruel all at the same time keep yourself and pets hydrated all year around.

AJ is right about the commute. Sauhaurita is growing, but it's no Tucson yet. It will always force people to have big commutes because they cannot build any closer in the direction towards Tucson because of the Indian Reservation in between.

Can't argue with the statements above. I live in Green Valley, an ADULT (sometimes I wonder) community of close to 60,000. LIke Sauhaurita, it is growing (outgrowing) and the water supply is in jeapordy long term.

Sahuarita is great!
I enjoy it very much and so do many others. But then again I try and look for all the positive things in a community rather than become one of those annoying residents who sits inside their homes all day long and complains about everything. You are what you make of your community so...
We speak plently of ENGLISH here in Sahuarita! Not too many non-speaking english people making $80K/year (which Rancho Sahuarita's median houshold income-not Sahuarita); compare to Tucson's median household income in 2005: $34,241

And hey since we live so close to the border there are going to be those problems with immigration but the way I see it is that if I didn't want those problems in my life then I should probably move someplace else. Welcome! It shouldn't be a problem but in my personal exeriences the more of an effort you make to speak the primary language then the more positive your experiences will be in that area. I moved and lived in Germany for four years and embraced the changes with a positive attitude. I took a few German courses and learned to speak their language not English.

I do perfectly agree with you.
Actually I live in Spain and I obviously had to learn spanish to live here and to enjoy the site
I'll do the same wherever I'll go for my job.

sahurita is a disgusting,depressing and extremely boring place in the middle of nowhere. you will regret if you move there! i suggest living in the NW area of Oro Valley... thats your best bet in boring Tucson. Goodluck!
