Looks like the shooter is a white male - 22YOA. From his ramblings, it appears the man is completely incoherent and will probably take an insanity plea.

Please keep politiical issues OUT of this discussion. This is not the time or the place for that. When more is known, that can be reevaluated.

Yep- the inevitable spin hasn't even started, and our wonderful media couldn't wait to demonstrate its absolute awfulness. What irresponsible "reporting".

Very true ... but today's method of capital punishment is too humane for these criminals. I really would like to revert back to the days of hangings, electrocutions, firing squads, and gas chambers for the ultimate punishment. In other words: make the convicted murderers FEEL the pain that they put their victims through, not to mention the victims' families. Heck, even a little vigilante justice of allowing the victims' family members to have a little revenge against the killers would be good enough for me too.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic, but I agree with the general consensus that this act was completely senseless. Now that the latest report is that Mrs. Giffords survived, I wonder how much of a quality life she will have thanks to the scumbag who shot her. I remember the horrible tragedy some 30 years ago when James Brady was shot & left paralized during an attempted assassination of President Reagan. His life sure was certainly changed as a result.

The guy has some really weird videos on Youtube under the name Classitup10. They are pretty rambling & messed up & very hard to make sense of, but it looks like his 3 "interests" are "mind control", a "new currency" (not sure if you really means this literally (such as gold) or it's something weird & symbolic, and "literacy" (sounds like he's referring to the illegal immigrants (& the presence of so many who don't speak English) in that part of the "rant" but it's really hard to tell for sure).

All in all, pretty darned wacked.

Ken

They're got pictures of the suspect volunteering at a big Arizona Book Fair event. The literacy thing is probably one of the more normal things about the guy.

[mod cut-- orphaned quote]
The thing is that we're not yet certain what this loser's motive was. Whether it was political or not, too many lives were tragically ended, and a Congress woman was seriously injured as a result of this lunatic's actions. Also, incidents like these are not only happening in today's times. Look at all the assassinations (and assassination attempts) during the 1960s and beyond. Even back in Abe Lincoln's time, there were miscreants lurking around who were low enough to murder him.

Yeppers, many political people have been shot, on both sides, over the years. I saw that on the news today while shopping and gasped.

Ms Giffords, hang tough, please.
