Jared Loughner has never been adjudicated mentally ill or schizophrenic. He has, from what I've read, never had ANY mental health evaluation, so to call him mentally ill is something to hold off on until there are some FACTS proving it.

I'm sure most people (including me) would consider him some kind of mental case to do what he did, but that's not a medical diagnosis. Whack job is not in the DSM-IV.

It's simply not his job to take advantage of his position and make such an inflammatory statement while being in front of media. Right or wrong he is being acting as divider, you can feel it right on this sight.
Fire this dolt.

For all those who are calling for him to be "fired", he can't be fired, he can only lose an election or choose not to run, or resign mid-term; I would not be holding my breath for any of those to happen.

IMO one does not have to be adjudicated insane to be judged by others to be several fries short of a happy meal.
One has to be severely mentally ill to do what that whack job did, of course unless he was possessed by body snatchers or aliens...

It's cause and affect, SANE people don't go shooting strangers until their weapon is empty.

He could be recalled, could he not?

Yes, go ahead and vilify Sheriff Dupnik. Meantime, gun sales in Tucson are soaring and the shops are running out of those $499 Glocks.

I don't understand people from Arizona.

The shooter kid was politically far-left. His favorite books were The Communist Manifesto and a book by Adolf Hitler. He burned an American flag. He called the U.S. constitution, among other things, "treasonous". He didn't like our form of government. The kid would have been a perfect fit for the "Weather Underground" had he been born 30 years earlier.
That's where Sheriff Dupnik went wrong. He lashed out and blamed a group of people who had nothing to do with this. The kid's friends said he didn't watch Fox News or much T.V. at all. He didn't listen to talk radio. He never attended a Tea Party.
What did he do? He read books. He read radical, far-left books.
If the Sheriff was going to be outraged, why wasn't he outraged at that? Where was the lashing out of The Communist Manifesto?
Sheriff Dupnik should apologize, IMHO.

BS much? You either didn't see the complete list of his favorite books, or you are cherry picking to make your case.
