I plan to move out to Tucson at the end of the summer/fall with a roommate. Just trying to get some real advice on the decent areas. We are two females and plan on going to PCC and then transferring to U of A. Wondering if it is a bad area and two young females should be concerned or if it's not too bad? Also was wondering if it's easy to bike and take public transportation around the city or if it's too spread out to really manage. Please let me know what you all think!

There are five main PCC campuses that all offer different classes and are in very different parts of town. It would be best first to figure out where most of your classes are at PCC and then choose an area to live in. They are all accessible by public transit, but not particularly easy to reach by it.
A lot of students live in the area right around PCC West along Anklam Road. The student apartments have always seemed like a tremendous rip-off to me, but there are just regular apartments you could rent for relatively cheap.
You should also look into getting a house to share. You'll save money that way and have a better lifestyle.

I personally live in an apartment community across from PCC west and it's been great for me. I attended PCC then transfered to the U of A too. Out here has been very safe and haven't heard of anything going on around this area. However, at night a few blocks north of the U of A campus is a different story. Out here on the west side is very different from downtown Tucson; it is much more open, less traffic, and from what I've heard and experienced, less crime. As far as transportation from this area; if you are attending PCC west, its a quick walk, but to the university I wouldn't recommend biking. Many of the apartment communities in the area offer free shuttles back and forth to the U of A campus all week.

I hope this helps!
