Soon I have a friend coming to visit us and our friend has expressed an interest in visiting biosphere2.
However, I have an 8yr old and 3 year old and I'd really appreciate any thoughts on how suitable it may be, for those who have visited.

I think it's well worth a visit but it would be over the heads of kids that age. When I've toured there have always been children there, but they were obviously bored and sometimes interfered with people trying to listen to the tour guide.

I agree with Jukesgrrl, Journey.

Biosphere2 is definitely a must see but probably not for a 3 year old and a little iffy for the 8 year old.

Good Luck

Ditto Bummer and Jukesgrrl. We took our kids when they were 11 and 14 and they just barely had an interest in it. This was many years ago, and it may have changed, but dizzyland, it's not. It's pretty scientific, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for your replies.
Just as an update, we decided to all go with our visiting friend, and my fears were unfounded, Phew!
We had a good tour guide who captivated my eldests imagination, and the 3yr old just wanted to walk with our friend (much more interesting than mummy or daddy ) we had a very good trip. I would not want to revisit, but for a once off it worked out great for us!
