Picked up my brother and sister in-laws (flew in from Germany) this past Sunday evening. What a pleasure! Tons of parking. Few, but friendly, people at the airport. Easy in and out. Tucson all the way!

When we were snowbirds, we used to fly COS to TUS via PHX. COS and TUS are small, quiet, friendly, clean airports. PHX was not. But, now that I live here full time, I fly to DEN to visit family 2x a year. Denver is probably the worst airport I've ever been in...confusing, crowded, noisy, and very traveler unfriendly. LaGuardia is easier to navigate than DEN. I love Tucson for it's quiet, clean, uncrowded, easy, friendly environment. Landing here, and seeing the big TUCSON on the control tower really makes me glad to be home.

Dont forget the cost of parking... Tucson is as low as $2.50/day within a mile
Of the airport. Phoenix is in the ballpark of $10/day and that includes a minimum 5 minute ride to the airport.

80% of all air carrier flights out of TUS are to Phoenix, Vegas, LAX and Denver. Many others to DFW, Atlanta and Chicago. These are the hubs that TUS uses.

I love the airport in Tucson. I know all the Southwest people by name and the $4 parking is great. There's nothing better than rolling up 30 minutes before departure, strolling through security (thanks to the frequent flyer lanes at security) and walking on the plane.

However, over the past few years, the amount of flights and schedules have been cut dramatically. I fly between 40-45 weeks a year and I'm finding myself hiking up to PHX more and more. There just aren't any flights here. Southwest has 19 departures a day out of Tucson. They have 19 between 6-645a out of PHX.
