I'd like to get my sister and her family a years pass to somewhere..or a day trip to something original. Is there anything you've done in Tucson that was really original? Something you don't do everyday?

I thought about getting them an annual pass to the Desert Museum, but I don't know how much they would use it.

How about a theater experience especially for kids? Live Theater Workshop has children's theater productions every Sunday at a matinee time. I took my daughter to Sleepy Hollow and Tom Sawyer years ago. The website for them should have details. Are there history buffs in the family? The Arizona Historical Society has an upstairs level for kids to play in. There is a ranch, a town home, and a Tohono O'odham home. My daughter liked the downstairs adult displays better. She was especially fond of a hair curling chair from the 1920's that looks like a prop from the Bride of Frankenstein.

The Desert Museum is great, but I think your concern is well founded. It is something that I find most people I know go to every few years - generally when friends & family are in town.

The same goes for a lot of the other options: Pima Air & Space Museum (I love it, but my wife and kids are bored to tears), Titan Missle Museum, Old Tucson, etc... they are all great, but I don't know that you go to any of them more than once every couple of years.

How about tickets to the Gaslight Theater? They put on three or four plays throughout the year and while some may critique the artistic value, it is always hilarious.

Breakers Water Park also comes to mind, and depending on what the family likes something as simple as a day at Funtastics or Golf N Stuff may work... as a matter of fact, I should probably take my family to one of these places fairly soon; we are due for something different.
