All I need is help picking out paint colors for the entire house. I have a jillion paint chips and cannot get it together. I'm horrible at coordinating colors. I'm looking for a professional who will come to the house and give me color suggestions, but can't afford to spend an arm and a leg. I've done some searches but haven't come up with much except interior design stores who want to sell you their furnishings. All I need is a paint color consult in an empty house without furnishings. Does anyone have a decorator they can recommend?

Before you spend any money on a decorator, you may want to consider C-D's Interior Design forum. There are a couple of professionals who post there and lots of others, (like me! LOL!) who aren't professionals, but often offer opinions/suggestions.

I suggest posting a couple of pics of your new place and mention any colors/styles you particularly like or dislike. If you have existing furniture the colors would have to work with, post a pic of that, too.

It's all free and it may be fun to see what different people come up with for your space. The worst that would happen is you didn't care for the suggestions and wind up hiring someone anyway.

Good luck.

ETA: You beat me to it! You may want to consider adding a couple of pics for everyone to see, along with pics of the adjoining area(s). That way the house would flow well.

Benjamin Moore has a huge color collection called Affinity. Every color goes with every other color, so you can make attractive transitions from room-to-room or paint focal walls, trim, and ceilings knowing that they will be complementary. I got the folder for Affinity at Ace Hardware, so you don't even have to make a trip to the Benj. Moore store if it's far from you. It's a great idea for people painting an entire house. Not to mention that Benjamin Moore is top quality.

Also, for some really in-depth education about color usage, check out:
