I went to UA right out of high school in 1974 - 75.
I really liked it there and I've been using virtual globetrotting to revisit places I went back then.
I remember going to Ronstadt's Hardware store.
Does anybody remember where that store would have been located in '74?

It was on 6th Avenue between Congress and Pennington. The east side of that block currently houses the Rondstadt Transit Center, a bus turnaround that I assume was named at least in part as a tribute to the hardware store that had been on that block seemingly forever. I don't remember whether the hardware store was where the transit center is now or whether the store was across the street on 6th. If it was where the transit center is now, then the building was torn down.

this is from

Was it the building marked with the X?
I remember it was that type of building, but then so were most of them from that era. It had creaky wooden floors and was packed with stuff.

That could be it. Like I said, I don't remember which side of the street the store was on. And as you said, most of the buildings from that era looked similar. I remember Johnny Gibson's fitness store being on that block too, if that helps jog your memory.

Being one of Tucson's pioneer families, they would have had a couple of centuries to develop several properties around Tucson. I was able to locate this website for buildings and locations for F Ronstadt Company.

The one I remember most was at 33 South Sixth Avenue.

That building at 33 6th is still there(the address in the pic is off):

By coincidence, it's across the street from the Chicago Store I posted a thread about on the same day as this thread.

The building marked with an "X" on an earlier post is another building which is north of Congress, and the street is marked as being "N 6th Ave", and in fact, is on the west side of the street. It is showing in that picture as being right across the street from the "new" Ronstadt Bus Center.

33 S 6th Ave was on the east side of the street and south of Congress. I don't remember that X'd building having anything to do with Ronstadt's Hardware.

ZonyPony I was going by what Kevin mentioned in an earlier post in this thread. I remember going to a building that had the "raised front' like the bulding with the "X". Kevin wasn't sure if it was that building or one that had been on the site across the street.
Where's Linda? She'd know.
ZonyPony do you recall where it would have been in 1974-75?
Thanks

My understanding is that Ronstadt's Hardware was still at 33 S 6th Ave until its last day. Exactly when that was, I'm not really sure.

I believe that Linda is back living in Tucson. I don't have her current phone number, so I'm not able to get her to meet you for coffee.
