It does sound like that, but on the other hand I've never heard of an engineer working this way... Will see what the aspiring Sahuaritan has to say about it.

LOL . . . as I posted earlier . . . NOT FOR ME!

Having commuted from Orange County (a little South of Chowhound) to LAX (Los Angeles Internation Airport) for years, I'm aware of his concerns but jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire is no solution.

Are you saying that the communte to Tucson area from Sahuarita would be worse than LAX to the OC?? I've made the drive on the 405 going through the south bay curve a million times. That's pretty nasty at 4 or 5 in the afternoon. To answer sierraAZ I work in the Building Automation industry. Which just a fancy way to say computerized air conditioning in large commerical buildings

For our purposes all we need to know is where these darn "large commercial buildings" are in order to give you some advice! Nobody's trying to determine your exact job title or W-2 for Christ's sake! I sent you PM about the rest of the stuff.

I really can't say exactly where I would be at. It's just it could be anywhere in the Tucson area. As I said it would generally be commercial buildings such as offices or schools. That's why I said I'm used to 40 to 50 minute commutes because in So Cal I could be in downtown LA for a couple of weeks then I could be in South Orange county for the next couple of weeks. So if I had to guess I would probably be in downtown Tucson most of the time.

No, Chowhound . . . not saying that at all.

My point is much simpler. It appears to me one of your primary reasons for relocating is to eliminate, or at least reduce, those horrible Southern California commutes. If my assumption is correct and if Tucson is where you'll be working (especially if you'll end up over on the eastside), there are better choices for a home than Sahuarita.

Does that make more sense?

In this case you're on your own with a map in hand! I told you what I think about Sahuarita. Enjoy exploring the forum further and come visit. It's hard making up your mind having no idea what a place looks like.

Yes that does make sense. Thanks for the reply. What area would you recommend then. I see various home developements going up in Marana. It seems like the drive up the 10 would start to get bad after awhile. But again I can handle 40 minutes or so. It seems like the homes on the east side such as Vail look a little pricey. But that probably means the area is nicer??

Once again, Chowhound, as SierraAZ posted, without your work location, sound advice is difficult. However, since you don't know, I would highly recommend something as close to central as possible.

From what I have seen and heard lately (some scenarios are downright scary), I would never buy a new home, especially considering all of the great established homes on the market now. Have you contacted a Real Estate Agent or at least checked the MLS yet?

MY TWO CENTS WORTH.

Thanks Bummer for the info. I would be working all over the Tucson area so pinpointing an area is difficult. I'm just curious about your take on the housing market. I know in LA area it starting to soft up bit, but of course it is insane anyway. How is the Tucson market?? I'm hoping to take some of the equity in my place and buy something. Why is it you are reluctant to buy from a new home builer. They are offering some incredible incentives. It seems like it would be better to go that route.
