Anyone know of a good Thanksgiving Buffet in Tucson. We went to Chad's last year and loved it but, sadly they have closed. Any ideas?

Thanks

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, the Arizona Inn, one of Tucson's few four-star dining experiences, is open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas with an elegant, flat-fee dinner menu. In addition to the traditional turkey, beef tenderloin, duck, and salmon are available, with vegetable paella as the vegetarian option. I've never been there for a holiday meal. but I can attest to the outstanding quality of the food in general. Their elaborate brunch is another option for a holiday festivity.

The Hilton El Conquistador on Oracle Road also has a special menu for Thanksgiving that appears to be a buffet. A bit less expensive than the Arizona Inn.

I can vouch for the Hilton's Thanksgiving buffet that we had yesterday afternoon. Reservations are required. The buffet was 37 dollars + 15% tip for the server added to the bill. They had four tables set in the middle of the conference room. One table had desserts, one had cold salads, one table had warm dishes like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pasta and stuffing, etc. One end of the warm table had multiple types of bread. The last table had gravy and pork, beef and turkey were carved. We happily gave the waitress an extra 5 bucks for serving us on top of the 15%. They will be repeating this for Christmas Day for 47 dollars.

My spouse and I didn't get any invitations and no one visited from out of town and it just seemed to me that cooking at home would feel isolating, so we went there for dinner. We've discovered that living in a new city without knowing anyone can be pretty lonely and getting out on days like Thanksgiving helps to avoid massive depression.

Welcome to Tucson. I'm glad you had a good dinner at the El Conquistador. It's been awhile since I've eaten there, but I always thought their food was well-prepared.

If you're looking to make some friends in your new home, check out the Tucson Meetup site. Even if you don't want anything more complicated than some dining partners to check out restaurants with, there's a MeetUp group for you. Among them Ladies Who Lunch; The Tucson Dining Club; The Tucson, Travel, Social and Supper Club; New To Tucson Food and Fun; Potluck Dinners in Tucson, etc. There are also dining clubs for vegans, wine lovers, beer drinkers, etc. Many newcomers enjoy the movie group that sees a movie and has a casual discussion afterwards in a restaurant or bar or one of the social MeetUps that are designated for specific age groups. Even more MeetUps related to activities like hiking, biking, backpacking, dancing, tennis, kickball, etc. You'll find ten pages of listings for every interest from Japanese Culture to the Tucson Ukulele Meetup to the Psychic Club of Tucson.

Have fun!
