I am in my early 50's and will be relocating to Tucson. As a single man, what will life be like in Tucson for mature men who are gay? I am an avid hiker and love the outdoors. I like peace and quiet and time to just enjoy life outdoors.

Life is definitely what you make of it in Tucson, so - really - this question can't be answered by anybody but yourself. That isn't meant to sound snarky, really, it's just the truth that for a size of it's town, Tucson is very sleepy and unlike other places that provide a base level of engagement and activity by default, Tucson does not. It's entirely up to you to go and find the things that mete with your tastes.

Will you find good hiking and amazing outdoors activities? Yes. Can you find peace and quiet and time to enjoy nature? Certainly.

As for mature gay men - I have no idea, personally. I have heard both that it's a supportive and friendly community and that there is no community. Obviously, like anything else, it's all perception. Forum poster 'CheyDee' posted this list of related links in another thread, and it may be useful here:

I can't speak on community but I can speak on acceptance not being an issue. I know there is a decent community of younger gay males just not sure about the more seasoned guys. I am sure there has to be something though it's not like we are a small town by any means.

I agree with Suckson . . .

Life in Tucson is no more or no less than what you want it to be.
