Can anyone recommend a place to get free range eggs? (Not cage free, but free range.)

I would also like to know where to get free range, organic eggs, besides Whole Foods.

Well, there's a Facebook group called 'Tucson Clucks' and I'm sure that's the weather is warmer, those with laying hens have a surplus.

I asked about buying locally grown citrus fruit here recently and CheyDee clued me in to the Heirloom Farmer's Market on Saturdays at Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Rd. (Heirloom is also at St. Philip's Plaza and Jesse Owens Park on other days of the week.) It's fantastic and I was surprised by the huge variety of things I saw there, including farm vendors with many types of products. I can't guarantee free range eggs but it would be a place to try. The sellers were very chatty, so I'm sure someone would offer advice if you asked.

The Rincon Farmer's market on Old Spanish Trail Saturdays sometimes has eggs as well as the markets listed above.

Here's a list of all the markets...http://www.tucsonaz.gov/ocsd/nature-farmers

It depends on the time of year what is available, sometimes you can even get duck and quail eggs at St Philips. There's a guy from Green Valley whose eggs are really good, I think they're free range but not sure, and I haven't seen him for a while.

If I can't find what I want that way, Trader Joes has organic free-range, probably Sprouts does also.

I was driving on lower Harrison the other day. Just north of the wash there's a sign for someone selling eggs. I had just bought some or I would have checked it out.

Most if not all of them are not organic, and not free range. One seller bragged to me that they don't let the chickens out to roam and eat dirty things like bugs. LOL

Yep, I see that they were fed with organic grains and that's not what I want. I'm looking for bug-eater's eggs. :^)

My landlord encouraged me to get my own, maybe I will. Wonder if there's a type that eats scorpions...hmmm. I'd keep one of those in the house...
