I need to replace two old stereo speakers. Does anyone know where a good place is to buy stereo speakers? (Not home theater or surround-sound speakers, just two decent quality....but not high end.....stereo speakers. My previous speakers were Pioneers from the '80s.)

Amazon sells a lot of speakers. If you have an idea of what size you want and how much you want to spend I am pretty sure you could have a set in a couple of days. Amazon now has Sunday delivery in many areas so you could have your speakers by Sunday. Craigslist would be my second choice for a decent set of used speakers. You might also go over to Bookman they have a lot of stuff but its hit and miss.

"Craigslist"....I second this suggestion! I just scored a pair of Klipsch KG4's in great shape for $125.

I've seen Klipsch speakers, but don't know anything about them. Are they decent quality?

I haven't purchased speakers in years, so I don't know some of the brands, and/or their reputation.

Klipsch is an excellent quality speaker. I have had their Reference Series mains and subwoofers for about 15 years now and still work like new. Like most manufacturers they have several different "levels" of speakers depending on what kind of money you are wanting to spend. Best Buy carries some of their stuff. If you go to the Best Buy down on Wetmore they have a much better sound room for listening than the OV store. But as Gemstone mentioned, if you can find some used on Craigslist or Backpage you might be able to get a nice deal on them.

How about a pair of Cerwin-Vegas, JimDC?

I've had two sets of SE Series, Cerwin Vega Speakers for many years and they are still able to "Knock My Socks Off" . . . crisp and clear lows and highs at all volume levels.

Check 'em out . . . Cerwin Vega - Pro Audio, Home Audio, Subwoofers, Speakers, Amplifiers

I've got a set of Mission 701's I'd sell. They have cloth covers. PM if interested.
