These are some pics I took earlier today 2/15/08 on my walk to work . This is one of the Central Tucson neighborhoods, not one of the nicest around. Hope you enjoy the pics. It was very cold and rainy. One of our RARE dreary days. Enjoy

I start out at home on my 11 minute walk to work, ending at the library (where I work)

Hope you like. I will be heading downtown this weekend so stay tuned for more pics,

Daniel

Interesting choice of a day to take pictures, but they are certainly authentic and do show one of the realities in town.

Thank you. I bought this new digital camera yesterday and REALLY wanted to take some photos and post. Too bad the weather was kinda crumby. I plan on heading downtown tomorrow is the weather holds up and will post some of downtown.

I responded before realizing you're the same Daniel I've noticed before. You know, God and the rest of the members know I don't exactly subscribe to the positive thinking religion, but you're something else...

Default Typical neighborhood??

I was wondering about those picture you took. Is that a typical neighborhood in Tucson or is it more on the run down side. Some of those homes with the dirty lots and garbage containers turned over is kind of scaring me. I was looking to relocate to the Tucson area but not sure now. I know every area has its good and bad though.

Not all of Tucson is like that. A lot of it is though. Neighborhoods in Tucson vary block by block. This is in central tucson, where there are a lot of nasty lookin streets. South side is the same

Typical in-town Tucson neighborhood. Many of the neighborhoods in the older parts of Tucson look like that. Houses that are odd-looking, small, covered in bars, and painted with tacky colors, in dirt-filled lots, without paved driveways are unfortunately be the rule, not the exception in most neighborhoods.

This photo thread does truly fog any rose-colored glasses that perspective residents might have before coming to Tucson. Unlike where I live in the Phoenix area, most things in Tucson are definitely NOT brand new. This is what "embracing your environment" looks like in the Sonoran Desert.

Honestly, some of the pictures make Nogales look attractive.

Seems to be a lot of that in Tucson, nice, beautiful neighborhoods, and then a mile away is the pits.
