How big of danger are wildfires near Tucson?

They happen on a regular basis. But the entire state is prone to wildfires.

If you mean for those living in town, I never experienced anyone getting burned out for example like they do in chaparral areas of California. But unfortunately not rare are the times we have seen fires on the front range of the Catalinas. Visible smoke in the daytime and orange flames at night.

If you have COPD, like myself, it's a big concern. When I lived in Las Vegas, the smoke from the fires in California would, oftentimes, seep into the Las Vegas Valley. But, judging from last year's fires in CA, I don't think the smoke comes down this far. And, yes, I would expect some occasional wildfires in AZ.
