I live a stone's throw away from Oro Valley in a unincorporated county island. Biggest threat in our subdivision are the packs of roaming coyotes that eat people's cats.

Oro Valley was ranked 2nd in safest cities in AZ in a recent study - I posted it on this forum somewhere just can't remember off the top of my head. I LOVE it there!

And the only reason it was ranked #2 was because of the ratio of police to civilians. Paradise Valley narrowly got the top slot because they have a few extra officers. The Oro Valley police have nothing better to do than to strictly enforce every minor traffic infractions. One of my elderly family members got her first ticket in 50 years for doing a "granny turn" into her neighborhood Walgreens.

I'll 3rd Oro Valley....beautiful views, nice hiking and biking trails, nice housing stock, low crime...really no negatives that I could find.

Where does it say that that was the only reason? I'm sure it was a contributing factor but I somehow doubt it was the only reason.

Forget the source, but it was almost a close tie as to which city was safer - Paradise Valley or Oro Valley. The deciding factor was the ratio of officers per 1000 residents. From what I remember PV had 2.1 officers per 1000 and OV had 1.89 officers per 1000. Honestly if I had to guess, what might push OV to second place would be all of the retail stores that PV doesn't have. Probably more shoplifting and breaking into cars in OV.
As someone that lives a stone's throw away from OV and sees all the crime posts on NextDoor the biggest issues are coyotes and bobcats eating pet cats or people speeding through residential streets.
