Hi,
Starting to look for a home in the Tucson area. I'm retired and a lifelong semi-pro musician. I'll want to continue to find people to jam with and gigs to play from time to time. I assume a city the size of Tucson will have enough music happening to keep me interested.

My question is about where the music venues are and where the music activity is. For example, here in Seattle I live just south of the city, but I discovered too late that pretty much all of the gigs and musicians seemed to be from the city northward. I'm forever driving to the north side for rehearsals and gigs, sometimes more than an hour. I'd love to avoid that if possible.

So, any suggestions about where would be a good location to get to the live music rehearsals and venues?

Thanks!

Lazy

The Hut on 4th Avenue is one live music location and another one is Club Congress downtown on Congress Street. I've some great shows at both of them. Look them up and give them a visit and/or a phone call.

I can hardly believe there's only been one answer. Tucson has a really lively and good music scene and I would definitely say it is concentrated around downtown and 4th avenue.

There's plenty of scattered venues and one place that has music nightly is Monterrey Court. Here's a link to their calendar for February: https://www.montereycourtaz.com/calendar.html Very diverse and lots of fun.

The Tucson Weekly has a dedicated Music section as well as an Arts and Culture section: https://www.tucsonweekly.com/

There's loads more but that's a start.

Kevin Pakulis is my favorite Tucson musician. Seeing him live is best. He's a good songwriter and singer and his band is great. He plays at venues all over Tucson.

Too bad Linda Ronstadt isn't able to sing any more. She's a fantastic singer!
