For over 10 years, I lived with swamp coolers and found them less than satisfactory to say the least. They also don't work when it's humid. I've had AC again for the last 2+ years -- I love it.

Okay Tucsonans, now that summer is nearly here will be interesting to read comments about summer a/c electricity costs. Were looking at approx 2000 sqft homes less than 20 years old and curious about summer utility costs.

Since this forum is a little slow right now, I have an add-on question. I'd be interested to know if the type of roof makes a difference in keeping the house cool -- the tile roofs vs the flat white/coated roofs. I also see some with brick interior walls and wonder if this insulates from the heat or holds the heat in? I would think the types of construction would affect the utility costs.
