This is just the sweetest. I love how the male brings her a green twig to freshen up the nest. And they share nesting duty, giving each other time to fly away briefly or fluff up their feathers. Really neat to watch up close, thank you!

I am glad you enjoyed the video wildflowers27! I feel so fortunate to be able to record some of this activity and share it with anyone who is interested. I never knew that males and females shared the nesting duty, I always thought that it was the female exclusively who sat on the eggs. The green twig for the nest maintenance was pretty cool as well! Did you like seeing the hummingbird peek in to the hawk nest? It was brief, but I thought it was worth putting in to the video! Just another thing you do not see every day! Thanks for watching!

I did see that little hummingbird come to check out the nest! Very cute that a tiny hummingbird weighing .15 of an ounce flies up and hovers right next to the nesting hawk to check it out. Neighbors, big and small.

Yes, I loved the part where the hummingbird takes a peak in to their nest. Our hummingbird family just returned to the china berry trees in our back yard, but they haven't started building their nest yet. We're watching to see if they do. Adorable video, Bart!

I hope the hummingbirds build a nest, too, Bart. I will definitely try and catch it on video!
