The video pretty much speaks for itself. Heinz and I were working on his landscape project when he noticed a doe and two fawns coming up the driveway. I was riding on the back of the tractor, so I jumped off and got out my cell phone to capture what I could. The deer saw us, so they turned and went through the property to where Heinz has a watering hole for the animals. I followed them, and they hid for a few minutes, but as I sat on a low wall, one fawn came out, then the other, then Momma. The fawns went to get a drink, and from where I was sitting, the rising sun was right behind them, so I was blinded briefly, but I was able to block the sun with one hand and take video with the other. After a couple of minutes, I could see that they wanted to move, and I was in their way, so I stopped the video, got up, and walked away while they watched me. The doe was beautiful, and the fawns were absolutely adorable!!!

A very pretty family and how nice they came to visit. i was struck by how the mother deer's ears swivel so far forward (seen well at about the 3:00 minute mark). Good anatomy for listening.

Yes, it was a real treat to have them visit! I think they are as interested in us as we are in them! It was wonderful to be able to sit there and have them look directly at me from 30 feet or so! Yeah, those ears are amazing! They are so big to help with temperature control of the deer's body! Tailor made for the Sonoran desert!!! Before I moved here, I had no idea that there were deer in the desert!!!
