Could someone give me an idea of how much I could expect to pay for these items in a house or condo in Tucson worth about $150,000? I am referring to such things as real estate tax and homeowner's insurance. Also, are there any expenses that I might not know about, such as tornado insurance, or the hurricane insurance that seems to be so difficult for many Florida residents.

Um...you don't have to worry about tornado insurance (?)...since Arizona isn't very favourable for them. Also, since Arizona isn't on a coast...you don't have to worry about hurricane insurance....once every few years, AZ will get the remnants of an EPAC storm, but that's about it.

The only supplemental insurance I could possibly see is flood insurance if one lives really close to or in a riverbed...the rivers are dry most of the time, but flood during the monsoon.

Taxes you can expect are around $1400 based on your $150K. I pay homeowners insurance of about $765.

Please understand these are just estimates. There are things that affect your insurance such as if there is a pool, what materials the house is made of, how close you are to a fire station, etc.

You can get quotes on-line if you have a specific house in mind.

Additional expense would be HOA fees. They can be high on condos. Run a search on the mls in this price range - Tucson MLS - and you'll see what the taxes on the houses are. The HOA fees are listed as well.

As far as homeowners insurance, paying more than $400 max in this price range would mean you either don't shop around or have really low credit scores. Even 400 is way too much unless you have a pool... but even with a pool it shouldn't cost that much.

True, in the $150 price range. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, you live in Buffalo... Those numbers do vary from state to state a lot.

This is getting more and more interesting... You sure you bought a house here? Have you seen it and perhaps signed some paperwork for it, which would help you know where it is?

Oh come on Sierra. That was a joke (Hooked on Phonics, worked for me).

You were so playful during my LTV post in March. What happened?

Sorry to the OP, who had his poor thread hijacked.
