As some have noted here, many homes in Green Valley were damaged by the hail storms that occurred has month. As my wife watches twenty homes in two neighborhoods in Green Valley, seventeen had at least some damages while several were severely damaged up to about $40k. As most of these people live in the Midwest and the PNW during the summer months, she has been working with a good number of property adjusters with a number of insurance companies to get these homes reaired. She also hired a handyman who was able to tarp the properties until they could be repaired. I will say that all of the insurance companies have been very responsive and reasonable with the amount that they are paying for this damage. Everyone has been pleasantly surprised.

Last week, she was talking with a couple of adjusters from large insurance companies. They noted that while they are willing to repair all damages right now, that owners who do NOT have people checking their homes and who have done nothing to mitigate their damages in July or August might find that the damages resulting from three months of having broken windows or skylights might not be covered.

My point is that if you are in an area that suffered significant hail, hire someone to check it out and if necessary, call your insurance company ASAP to start the claims process.

One thing that is NOT appreciated are all the people calling my wife and other house watchers to get them to go up and check their roof and to inspect their properties ... FOR FREE. She had three calls last week and she told them that she would do that work if they would give her the business until at least October. And their response: "I am NOT interested in that."

A good home watch person provides great peace of mind. After that hailstorm you had, all of them must be very busy. I can't imagine asking for Free inspections. When they return for the winter and find damage, they'll wish they had paid to have it discovered sooner.
