Hi all! I have 2 quick questions about Oro Valley….

1. This may be a dumb question, but what is the weather like there from the months of December-March?
Is it sunny? Cold? Warm? Is it similar to Phoenix winters?

2 - How common are scorpions in the home? Is it as bad as the Phoenix area? Are there any good pest control companies in OV that help get rid of them?

Thank you for your time!

Oro Valley weather is hot, but not quite as hot as PHX. From December-March it varies. It can get "cold", but I have no context as to what you are comparing that to.

If you look at Tucson weather patterns, it's essentially the same. Maybe a couple degrees cooler.

Scorpions aren't very common. My mom lives in OV and I never remember her complaining about one. She does get an occasional snake, and bobcat! Wildlife in OV is pretty great.

I live in OV. Weather-wise, when I drive up to my house from my office in the middle of the afternoon it is not uncommon to see the temperature drop 2-3 degrees. If central Tucson is 105 at 3 PM, my house is 102 degrees. Then during the winter a lot of it depends on how close your house is to a wash or drainage area. I sit on top of a hill and a typical December & January early morning temperature was mid-30's to low 40's. When I walk my dog early in the morning, houses in my neighborhood that sit along a large wash have a very noticeable 10-12 degree difference in temperature, walk a half block and it warms up again.
I'll go trail running or hiking in Catalina State Park and the biggest temperature swing I've seen in the morning was being at 40 degrees on Oracle Road, drive a mile into the park to the trailhead and the temperature was 25 degrees. Compared to Phoenix, OV is quite pleasant. The mornings are cool and the afternoon summer temps are not bad.

I haven't seen a single scorpion in my house, but that is often location specific. Used to live 5 miles down the road and I'd see 2-3 a year in the house and I'd catch 2-3 a night in my yard on my weekly scorpion hunt. But my next door neighbor could catch a dozen or more scorpions in his yard on the same night.

My biggest pest right now are javelina. They are quite aggressive and I have a pack of about a dozen that troll my neighborhood
