Hi Mi_Mom;

I don't know about those areas. I'm speaking of streets in town. is Valencia south of the city and Houghton is on the east edge of the city. Anywhere from Golf Links Rd. north and you're not going anywhere in a hurry. Even the newer development all the way up to the Foothills mall is 45 mph max.

But, coming from Michigan myself, I'm used to driving 60 mph on two lane roads, and 75 on the freeways. My car never gets out of 2nd gear in Tucson!

That's because Houghton is still considered somewhat of a rural road in the southern parts. Trust me, once it goes up to 6 lanes, we'd be crawling at 40! Every time a road is fixed the speed limit becomes ridiculous - like the new section of Campbell; beautiful, wide... and a limit of 35. Of course, nobody gives a rat's patootie about safety because it's not an issue. It's all about revenue generation.

I'm amazed that these Gestapo tactics exist in such an otherwise liberal community.
And, lest we forget... the infamous "PEDESTRIAN CROSSING" lights!

Nothing amazing about it - just follow the money...

You might be seeing the emergency first-responder flashers, which also change the lights over to green. You'll usually see those at the top of the regular traffic light arms.

If they also placed cameras up there, I'm not aware of it.

I believe you are correct, Zony . . . it is literally impossible to overlook or disguise the Red Light Cameras as they stand out like SORE THUMBS!

Nor neighborhood speed humps, the city's pathetic answer to traffic remediation when major roadways get so congested that motorists try to find shortcuts through residential areas.

Ha, I missed that. Interesting! Thanks, Michael.

Note to self - avoid 22nd! I avoid it anyway...
