So now I know the intersection starts a whole car length past the last line on the cross walk (at least at the intersection I ran). That I didn't know and would be the reason I'd want to contest it... :/ At least ask for mercy. It was a bad week for me too. From a major hardware failure in our office the day before, to watching a guy get hit on a bike by a car (second bike accident I was near or saw in 2 weeks)... that wasn't all... and I was just trying to do a good deed a drop a guy off at his home that didn't have a ride. :/

Rant over...

how come the yellow light at 22nd st and wilmot is 3.0 seconds and nationwide it should be 3.9 sec certain states were caught shortening the time to collect more fines and had to reimburse the general public with fines took.

It's amazing how frequently those lights go off considering all of the publicity plus the "base fine" is 280 bucks.
Indeed. We live very close to Oracle & River, and it is something else to see how many people run those lights (especially the turn arrows, did you notice that?). Flash! Flash! Flash!!!

Ka-ching!

Many of those drivers may be ex-residents or current visitors from our neighbor, the big and wonderful Golden State. My understanding is that California doesn't have STOP signs or STOP lights over there, so their drivers are not used to either slowing down OR stopping!

LOL!! They don't appear to have much use for turn signals, either. I was behind one today - had to go from Oracle & River to Oro Valley to Marana to Speedway & Wilmot - and the doofus stopped in the middle of the road. And then turned, without a signal.

Lately, I have been seeing LOTS of Michigan plates, though. Someone should tell them our economy isn't really any better than theirs.

Around 8:00 PM Saturday, sept 25, I drove into the intersection of Nogales and Valecia in Tucson, by the casino. It was yellow when I went into it but a bright light went off and now I'm worried if I got a ticket or was it one of those emergency first-responder flashers. Does anyone know if a camera is there? I did not go through a red lite, but I'm from out of state. Do you get a ticket here, if you're into a yellow light before it turns red?

Yes, there's a red light camera there. The ticket (last I knew) was $280.00. If the light is yellow when you enter the intersection, supposedly you have 3 seconds to make it through before the light turns red and the camera flashes, and as far as I know, it's not illegal if the light turns red AFTER you're in the intersection, but don't quote me on that. You shouldn't get a ticket for going through when the light was yellow. If you do, and it's obvious the light was yellow, I'd fight it. But, that's just me.

Based on what I've read on the Phoenix forum, ignoring the ticket appears to be the best approach.

Now I’m “blessed” with a camera intersection on my daily route. Can’t stand the effing thing, but there isn’t a whole lot we can do. We can just pray it takes some time before they start yelling at you as they do in England. “1984”’s been around just about since the real 1984 (more visibly, I mean; not that it's anything new)…
