I will second jjbradleynyc. Try Poca Cosa downtown, especially for breakfast. I lived in Tucson for six years and found there were tons of things to see and do. The Gaslight Theater is a great place to see some good comedy shows. Sabino Canyon and Bear Canyon are beautiful. There is also the Desert Museum and Old Tucson Studios just east of town. And the Reed Park Zoo is nice if you have kids. Boy I really miss the Old Pueblo.

Default I love Tucson!!

I have visited a couple of times. These are a lot of outdoors things to visit if you have a car rental:

Saguaro National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

Sabino Canyon Tours at Sabino Canyon, Tucson, Arizona

Sabino Canyon is especially wonderful. I've been on the 45 minute tour twice.

4th Avenue - Tucson, AZ » Fourth Avenue… EXPLORE IT!

4th Avenue may be more of a "walking and shopping" type thing, more of a chick thing. It is close to the Congress Hotel which another poster mentioned.

Tohono Chul Park, where nature, art and culture connect

If you can only pick one thing I would go with Sabino Canyon.

Two places that I love for dinner/lunch

1) Gold Room at Westward Look - east of I 10 on Ina. Fabulous view! Great food!! Super service.

2) Doc's or McClintocks east of I 10 off Tangerine. You have to go through a huge tunnel through the Mountain that was built by the owner of Gerber Foods and took 10 years. You stop at a little house and they confirm that you have a reservation and they escort you to the top of the mountian. Humongous porch with couches and fireplaces and tables and indoor seating/raised booths etc.. Sprinklers outside or heaters if cool. Food is still iffy at times (inconsistent and sometimes too salty)...but some dishes are fantastic. Feel free to send anything back and reorder till you find something you like. The lamb was wonderful, the salad's outstanding. Worth a try just for the experience and the view!
