C'mon! Don't be messing with my mind. Summer ain't truly over, right? At least not on the calendar. And, it still feels like it makes it right up there into the 90's, if not triple digits, correct me if I'm wrong...

However, Tucson businesses and events people seem to be ushering (if not shoving) summer clean out the door - like it never existed, or sumthin'. Must be a Labor Day tradition...

Examples: Lowe's and Home Depot are getting ready to remove all of its patio furniture and barbecue grills OUT. Garden shops are changing out their summer plants for fall as well. That is, if they haven't already done so!

The Starbucks people at Fry's Foodstore on Speedway and Pantano are getting ready to re-introduce their Pumpkin Spice flavor again! Their Treat Receipts are ending as of today (9-2-08) - which was a summer special!

Breakers Waterpark is closing. Even some, if not all, of the Dairy Queens close down for the "winter" in Tucson, for crying out loud! I mean, they don't even close down the one DQ that they have up in 7000' Flagstaff - EVER!

I mean - okay, I understand that they need to bring in their fall and winter wares, but... sheeesh (!) ... Arizona summers (themselves) ain't really gone, and they ain't really all that easy to get rid of, ya gnow!

Of course, if its any conSOLation, we can still look forward to Indian Summer...

Nah, it's not. But that doesn't mean that businesses won't continue to operate as if they're in states that have 4 seasons, because I think technically all these fall related things happen starting in September in places like the Midwest. I remember last September was still pretty warm, so summer's not done yet!

Now, now... let's be politically correct. You're looking forward to Native American Summer.

Give it a few weeks... you'll start seeing wreaths and other Christmas decorations around.

Close Dairy Queens? Close water parks? Why? Do people stopbuying ice cream and stop wanting to be cool and play just because of the calendar? I used to think that this was all a weather thing but it can't be if they close in Tucson at the same times.

I'm absolutely sure that if these places such as those here could stay open longer they would. But of course here EVERYTHING is about money.

As for the other things, I think it is more of a changing holliday thing.

I swear, I was gonna write the same thing .

No way summer's over. I'm guessing the monsoon is close to petered out at this point though. Close, anyway.

But if September averages are high of 96, low of 65, I'd say summer's hangin around for another month, though it is starting to have a fall-like feel. Air just seems different. Sun goes down earlier, etc. We're really getting into a period of fantastic weather.

Yeah, the mornings seem to start a little later because its a bit darker, and the same with earlier darkness for evenings.
