Yeah, we're thinking of renting for a few months while we look around -- also, I keep seeing these everywhere... What's a patio home? Just a house with a patio?

That's what it essentially is, but it's an unofficial term. Usually it's a townhome with attached or detached walls. My house, for instance, is a SFR, but you can pretty much consider it a patio home.

So ... If a townhouse and a duplex had a baby, it'd probably be a patio home?

How weird - but thanks for the clarification, guys!

Not necessarily... My house is for all legal purposes a SFR and it's detached, but the "back yard" is small like a patio - 13x13. If I am to sell it, the agent might describe it as a patio home. It pretty much means "a very small yard," but the form of ownership can be different.

Townhome

A Tucson Townhome is a style of building. In Tucson, townhomes are typically homes that share walls with other homes, and can be one or more stories tall. Townhomes, at least in Tucson, typically also have some sort of patio or small fenced yard. Townhomes may be condos (remember - a condo is a form of ownership) or may be owned as most single family homes are, as Fee Simple. Fee Simple means you own the house, the land, and everything associated with it.
