I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I might be able to buy a side of beef from a local farm/ranch. Or maybe point me in the direction of a good butcher shop here in town if there is such a thing. I have lived here 7 years and have not heard of one. Back east we had them all over. Thanks.

Anne

Have you been here?

American Meat Co.
1439 S 4th Ave
Tucson, AZ 85713
Phone: (520) 624-7456

That's where I would start. They seem to have local beef and pork, and it seems like they've been there a while. They only do meat and their prices are pretty good.

You might also try Dickman's Meat & Deli. Been a long time since I was in one but I want to say you could get a LOT of meat there.

I recently enjoyed grass-fed beef from X O Ranch - excellent - and had a chance to speak to the nice woman who said you can order 1/4, 1/2, or whole.

Southern Arizona Grass Fed Beef are local in the Tucson area - they sell 1/4, 1/2, and wholes.

Other suggestions:

A Bar H Farm (I'm pretty sure they have Tucson delivery routes)

beef? what is that? I come from IL where the beef is the best. Nothing here compares to it. How about ravioli from Mona's with sausage inside of it? All there is is cheese, more cheese, and 5 cheese. How about pizza? I got a cheese and sausage pizza here and when I got it home I thought I got the wrong pizza--WRONG--it was pressed flat sausage--I thought it was spoiled pepperoni. Good luck, and if you find some, PM me and let me know. Another thing--RUMP roasts? You are lucky to find one here and then they are so tough the dog can't chew it.

I's weird that for a place that has so many mid-westerners, I think you're right.

LAND and SEAFOOD Homepage

We get all our meat, seafood and poultry from this place. We've also brought Colorado Lamb from our home in CO to OV as there's nothing better than Colorado Lamb.
