Dear Mr Tucson: My husband and I will soon be retiring and moving to the great state of Arizona, specifically Tucson. We've been hearing about something called a "breakfast donkey" (?). What exactly is a "breakfast donkey"? Ralph and I believe its an animal you ride down the Grand Canyon in the morning. Can you assist?
- Konfused in Kalamazoo

Dear Konfused: Actually, the term is: "Breakfast Burrito". Here is a short history of the Breakfast Burrito:

Southwestern cuisine, New Mexican cuisine and Tex-Mex in particular, has popularized the breakfast burrito. An entire American breakfast can be wrapped inside a 15-inch flour tortilla, accompanied by field-fresh, often very hot, green chile. Southwestern breakfast burritos may include scrambled eggs, potatoes, onions, chorizo, guisado, or bacon.[5] Tia Sophia's, a Mexican café in Santa Fe, New Mexico, claims to have invented the original breakfast burrito in 1975, filling a rolled tortilla with bacon and potatoes, served wet with chili and cheese.[6] Fast food giant, McDonald's introduced their version in the late 1980s and by the 1990s, more fast food restaurants caught on to the style, with Taco Bell, Sonic and Carl's Jr. offering breakfast burritos (smaller in size) on their menus.

And, here you will find even more information on burritos in general.

Personally, my wife and I frequent an establishment in Tucson known as Poco and Mom's, located at the northwest corner of 22nd St and Kolb Rd, inside what I believe used to be an old El Taco! Their food is mainly New Mexico cuisine, but they prepare both American and Mexican foods. We especially love their yummy breakfast burritos!

Additionally, someday we will return to Hatch, NM, where we found a great breakfast burrito as well! Congrats on your retirement, and we'll be looking forward to welcoming you to Tucson!

Yours truly, Mr Tucson

Hatch is cool, we drive through it on our way to Albuquerque, NM. Plenty of chili places, haha.

As for burritos... I love their steak and egg with some red chili sauce. Mmm
