I want to preface this post by saying I do *not* want it to be a big debate about crime in Tucson or hear the love/hate relationships with the city. I have just moved here (and like it) but will make my own opinions about my new home. What I want to know is: I am still trying to find my way around and need to go from OV to Broadway/5th area at night. Mapquest is telling me drive straight down Oracle and left on Broadway - is that the best most populated way to get there? I'll be traveling alone, after 8pm, and I'm female (and driving back the same way around 11pm).

I would say take 1st/Euclid down to Broadway, then take a right. This is not because of crime, but if you are unfamiliar with driving downtown, then Oracle is not a good idea especially at night because the roads become a real mess in that area.

Save your sanity....lol.

If you drive from OV to that area a lot, then you don't really need to worry...traveling down Oracle, Stone, or 1st/Euclid would never result in someone following you or trying to jump you.

just to check, did you mean Broadway and 5th....Avenue??

also, the previous poster mentioned 1st/Euclid....he/she means 1st Avenue, not Street.....this is a "secret" way to travel N and S to avoid often-busy Oracle, though 1st often gets slow S of Wetmore....1st become Euclid S of Grant and slows as it goes by the U on its way to Broadway....drive carefully through here......and catch 1st from Ina or Orange Grove, not Magee

do not follow mapquest and "take Oracle to Broadway"....as said, it isn't that easy.....

Sorry, JackAZ . . . I'm gonna throw another option that would be my first choice.

South on Oracle to River Road. East (turn left) on River to Stone (only a couple of blocks) then South (right turn) on Stone to University or 5th Avenue (just before the Train Tunnel / Underpass). Left over to 5th Street and Broadway would be a few blocks South.

Good Luck
