This whole thing is blown out of proportion. The drug companies estamste that they will make at least $338M on this alone.

There have been about 150 suspected cases in Mexico and 20 deaths. What they don't tell you is that this is nothing compared to what happens from flu each year. Have you constantly been afraid of getting flu and dying each year? How does 20,000 deaths each year in the US sound? The CDC reports this on their web site.

This is just a new strain of flu. Were you worried when bird flu was in the news?

This is the typical thing that the media gets ahold of and causes people to panic.

Here is some good reading about this. This isn't new, it's been around for some time. The CDC reports that there are approx. 2 cases reported each year. That is reported. Since the symptoms are the same as most flu many infections are probably not even reported.

Correct, Sickster. Scaring people into getting flu shots (by using a media panic attack) is how the drug companies make their money. Its like how insurance companies scare you into believing that this may be your last day on the planet.

Its like how you are led to believe that "global warming" is a big scary deal. Its a big deal all right. A big-deal political-ploy which helps the recycling company lobbyists (et al) > which give kickbacks to the politicians > which back the "global-warming"-for-profit scare. See how it all works?

Not at all. I also wasn't worried about Bird Flu. You have a better chance of being in an auto accident or dropping dead of a heart attack than getting Swine Flu. Besides, Gerald Ford made a fool of himself in the 70's for scaring the bejesus out of everyone over the Swine Flu. I don't take it seriously at all. Media hype. Pharmacutecal (sp) company money, higher insurance rates and more money out of our pockets.
