I'm trying to find a good apartment in Tucson. Anybody know anything about this place? Rent is reasonable, convenient downtown location very close to work, high rise with big balconies and great view, big apartments, supposedly gated access, assigned covered parking. Only negative I can see are that it is close to the train and I-10 and I want to be able to keep the windows/doors open at night in the cooler months so noise when I'm trying to sleep could be a bit of an issue. There aren't washer/dryer hookups in the units either but I can live with taking a weekly elevator ride to the laundromat at the bottom. Anybody know anything else about it? Any other apartments that you would recommend in central Tucson? Thanks.

You may also want to look into:

1. La Entrada
2. One North Fifth

Both are downtown. Both are newer than Redondo and offer more amenities. La Entrada has nice town homes with lofts. One North Fifth is a multi-story traditional apartment building with good views and is more in the center of town than any other place, including Redondo. The apartments there are also a "modern urban" layout with balconies. That being said, I had a friend that lived in Redondo during college and she really liked the place. With the redevelopment that is going on, there should be many more options in the future to choose from. Good luck.

Thank you for your suggestions Spot. I have done a little research on La Entrada and One North Fifth. La Entrada is a tad bit more expensive than I would like and while a minor point, the balconies don't seem well shaded and probably wouldn't offer as good of a view (this sounds ridiculous I know, but if I'm paying $700+ to live in an apartment, it better offer something a similarly priced house doesn't). One North Fifth on the other hand looks more up my alley, as long as I can get a unit without that terrible post-modern-urban furniture shown in the pics on their web-site.
Still, I haven't found a better overall deal than Redondo. Unfortunately, I emailed the manager at Redondo and was told that the first definite vacancy there will be in September, although there may be some openings sooner. The lack of available apartments is to me a good sign, but I don't really have time to wait it out so I guess I can't be too picky.
