Funny how? Funny like a clown?

I'm curious, last time I was in Tucson 2005, 2006. What was the population then as compared to now? Is traffic congestion causing people in Tucson frustration? Has Tucson reached its critical mass?

Uhm... Those are pretty broad questions, Art.

Funny like quirky or amusing. Maybe it's just still new to me and the novelty hasn't worn off. I'm sure born and bred locals are tired of seeing cacti, kokopeli and lizards.

I'm not sure what the population is. Let's look....

Thank you, Google.

I, personally, don't feel Tucson has reached its 'critical mass' at all. Look at places like New York City and you--- Or, heck, Chicago. Isn't Chicago a vertical city? Maybe it's different because NY is an island.

Anyhow. Compared to where I've lived and visited before, the traffic here is kid stuff. Before we moved my brother-in-law was all doom and gloom about the traffic at the intersection we're closest too. I'm still not sure what planet he's from that he thinks twelve whopping cars lined up at a terrifically planned and paced intersection is 'horrible, horrible traffic'.

I still can't get over the marvel of the bike lanes and the timed green turn arrows.

Oh, and the guy that sold us the permit didn't seem to mind our dogs in the back seat (and he couldn't have not seen them, Bean is almost 100lbs). He even told us they were really nice.

Yeah, the dogs are allowed on Mt. Lemmon pretty much everywhere.

If you actually drive to the entrance of Sabino Canyon (not on Mt. Lemmon) you aren't allowed to take the dogs into the park. They don't even let them on the paved path!

Hmmm... what I like: the sunsets, the monsoon storms (maybe we'll see some this year at some point), lizards, cactus blooming, some great restaurants, proximity to beach getaways (I just need to take advantage of that sometime), the variety of old and weird vehicles, hummingbirds, incredible views of stars, low humidity - makes doing my hair much easier, lack of natural disasters compared w/other places (hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes).

Eh... that's enough for now,

Wacky, but good to know.

I like Tucson, for the food mostly. The people are fun, there's a lot of smart people doing odd jobs. I met a forklift operator that has a degree in accounting for instance. I met a teacher with a Master's delivering pizza in Marana.
