Anyone on this board live in Armory Park? Despite the proximity to downtown, the area seems less crime infested than most of central Tucson, according to the crime maps I'm seeing. Any one have any insight into that? It does seem like a true neighborhood, which is nice. Comments, anyone? Is it a relatively 'safe' place to live, from the standpoint of violent crime .. or not?

I went to middle school in that neighborhood.

As an adult - very little will get me to go anywhere near downtown.

I find it cramped, dirty, crowded, derelict, etc. And to be frank, the street people down there (both of the feral and wish-they-were-feral types) bother me.

Looks OK during the day. Don't know what's going on at night... To me personally it is too close for comfort to undesirable places.

I love Armory Park, its one of my favorite areas in the city. I ended up on the west side but I would move to AP anytime. You'll love it there...

A friend in Tucson is looking around for area she thinks might be of interest for us.

"I have found a place near downtown where part of the revitalization project is going on. They are the brand new townhouse/patio house type."

Can anyone indicate this for me on Google maps? Is this what is called the Primavera Foundation ara?

BTW, I have also asked her for clarification on this.

Have a great day.
Joseph

Armory Park is a very historic area right next to downtown....so named because the original Ft Lowell was in this area, back when that area was out of town....

it's a decent neighborhood if you're into respecting history and the local culture....much older homes, some greatly redone, others awaiting renewal, a few b and b's, bohemian tone in part, probably more liberal than average....was the original "suburb" of Tucson back in the 1880s....
