I'm looking for a way to have internet access without plugging my computer into a wall. At this point I'm having a hard time figuring out what my options are... it seems that a lot of people have Cox, but that is cable only (right?). I don't have a landline, but am willing to get one if that's necessary to set up a wireless router. Does anyone have wireless in their home/apartment? Or does anyone have a reasonably inexpensive USB modem? The aircard cheapest option I've found so far was $40/computer/month, which is more than I can afford.

Just get DSL and use a wireless router with it.Those Broadband cards are almost worthless.Speeds are not exactly fast.Plus you will have to deal with your signal going in and out. But, that part all depends on your location.

Not much to offer here, Moving . . .

I've been thinking about dumping my Cox Cable Modem (no land line) for one of those Cellular Aircards or MiFi Cards but the best prices so far start at 40 bucks and go up.

Good Luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

If you get Qwest, you can get a modem from them that has wireless built in for your home network, you just need a wireless receiver for your computer.

Or you can get their regular modem, or Cox/Comcast cable, and add your own wireless router. Again you would need a wireless receiver for your computer to make the connection.

I always have a wireless signal running in my home. 3 computers and two are using the wireless. My desktop is hardwired for the best speed, my GFs is wireless because we've been to lazy to get her a new NIC card so she can be wired, and my laptop is always wireless.
