I will be going back to Tucson in early January. Any projections on how the weather is going to be like?

Most likely in between 65-75 during the day and 35-45 degrees at night. The averages are around 66/42 for early January.

However, it could be as warm as 85 degrees or as cool as 55 degrees. January is the middle of our winter rainy season, so it could be pretty wet. Also, if there's a cold outbreak it could be as cold as 25 degrees early in the morning.

As MiamiMan mentioned, winters are mild in the desert elevations of Arizona, but the weather experts say we'll have an El Nino season, which is caused by the tropical jet stream from the eastern Pacific, around the regions of the equator. These jet streams will be going further north and to the east towards the western region of the United States, particularily central and southern California, and Arizona. This will cause temperatures to be about 4 to 8 degrees warmer than normal from October through May. They also say that the El Nino will bring us more rain.
